What is it?

A fun, interactive, theatre-based learning workshop delivered by our expert management trainer and professional actors. This session will support managers of all levels apply a range of skills and techniques that can be used to effectively to manage performance, and we’ll use observational theatre to draw out best practice.

What will I do on the day?

Through practical activities, discussion and observation of our actors, you’ll explore the theory of performance management and identify the impact of skills, behaviours, techniques and processes, allowing you to then apply these practically in your role

This course is delivered using observational & participative theatre based learning. Our actors perform a number of scenarios based on real life situations of managing performance - from how to continue motivating high performance to managing poor performance we present various scenarios and explore how to manage them.

Some faq's about Managing Performance Training.

Theatre Based Learning is the technique we use to bring learning to life by using our actors to perform scenarios, based on real case studies.

Theatre Based Learning can be either observational (where learners watch scenes and discuss) OR participative (where we use techniques like real-play and practice, forum where learners interact with the actors and direct them or hot-seating where learners give feedback to individual characters and make suggestions).

This course enables managers to practice in the safe environment of the training room (be that physical or virtual) the types of challenging performance related conversations they might need to have with our actors playing the role of the staff member. We explore all types of scenarios and spend time discussing what worked and what didn't work.

Discussing and learning in the traditional ‘class-room’ is effective, but long-term memory is better stimulated by having an experience. Our approach using experiential and drama based methods delivers this and leads to more sustained learning.

Our training is observational and participative, using teams of actors to bring it to life. We recognise that taking part in role-play is not for everyone, so we offer observational training – this is where two of our acting team demonstrate scenes related to the course and delegates observe and comment on the behaviors. Where a business is more confident working with actors, we take this to the next level with participative training so delegates get to practice their newly learnt skills.
