ted Learning has always offered blended & digital learning – it enhances, supports and compliments our classroom-based offer. With the current lockdown and changes in how we work, we are delighted to deliver all of our training via virtual classroom environments. We deliver these in smaller, manageable bite-size sessions.
The bite-size sessions are delivered over the course of the day or even days, to make it engaging for learners and ensure no digital fatigue.
We fully utilise our actors, either live in the virtual classroom or using video content. This creates an impactful session where learners feel supported, challenged and have fun. We have created something as close to the real theatre-based classroom as we can and feedback has been really positive.
Our approach to our virtual learning & blended learning is the same as our classroom-based – dramatically different, engaging and fun and using theatre-based approaches wherever possible. We can run interesting quiz based assessment prior to a course with interactive videos to test different scenario approaches and the same in post-learning assessment.

Learning is not a one-off event.
Learning shouldn’t be a one off event. We don’t want learners to say “That was fun, I really enjoyed the course” and then return to work and continue performing the way they did prior to any training.
Blended learning enables the learning journey to be extended – pre, post or both, of any classroom or virtual learning based experience.
We also love to keep in touch with our learners after their sessions and blended, virtual and online learning enables our trainers to continue supporting through blogs, virtual classrooms & podcasts to ensure learners feel supported way past their initial interaction with us.
What Is Blended & Virtual Learning?
Blended learning can either begin before a classroom-based intervention, after the session or be both before and after. This helps to create a sense of understanding before attending a more traditional environment OR enables all learners to be on the same page or have the same expectations around any classroom based training that follows.
It’s a great way to test understanding before learners attend any classroom based session so the time is more focused on what we know people already know.
Virtual learning – this is where a classroom based experience is delivered online, via our virtual classroom/theatre environment. Instead of a full day in the classroom, we break the session down into bite-size interactions. Learners can join from any location and participate in the training experience. Our virtual classroom features break out rooms, drama based learning with our actors & discussions. We limit time in this environment to around 40 minute sessions to maintain learner engagement.
Why ted Learning recommend a Blended Approach to Learning
There are huge advantages to blended learning. We passionately believe in our classroom-based products, but having some pre and post-testing of learning can better demonstrate a return on investment and ensure better learner engagement and continuation of skills learnt.
Traditional classroom based learning can on occasion have learners at different levels attending the same course. The value of a more blended approach, is we can provide pre and post information to learners, assess their understanding & provide further support, all before they have stepped foot inside a real or virtual classroom.
When they do attend the actual session, our trainer is in the knowledge that everyone has successfully completed the pre-course work and therefore has the same understanding of the learning outcomes, the law (if appropriate to the subject matter) and can therefore spend the start of the session more focused on meeting the outcomes then explaining them and checking learners understanding. This creates a much more focused experience all round.
Sustaining Learning and Engangement
We have always believed in sustaining the learning, it’s one of our 5 steps to building all our training content.
We want our learners to love the sessions they attend. More important is they go back and make changes or enhancements to the way they operate back in the workplace.
Blended learning is an effective tool to embed the learning following the session and highlighting any gaps in learning that can be better supported on an ongoing basis. Often these are not identified through a standard classroom-based experience.
We also provide on-going support to fully embed the learning via blogs, podcasts & social media opinion pieces so that learners have a connection with ted Learning way past any interaction they had with our trainers and actors.
