LET'S TALK ABOUT Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading.
This accredited qualification programme from the ILM gives new and aspiring team leaders an excellent introduction to the role and its responsibilities, giving a solid grounding in the skills required to successfully manage a team.
why come on the course?
4 in 5 Managers have no formal management training, running the risk of “accidental managers” who learn from mistakes rather than having a clear structure and skills to rely on when managing their teams.
Many first-time managers are promoted because of technical ability but lack any experience in building relationships and leading people.
With 3 core modules, supported by up to 6 more chosen by your organisation, this qualification is the ideal launch pad for your management career.
What is it?
A nationally recognised, accredited Level 2 qualification from the ILM.
You’ll study 3 compulsory units covering the core skills you need to lead a team: how to plan, allocate and monitor work, how to develop yourself as a leader and how to get the most from your team. You’ll also complete up to 6 more units chosen from a wide range which cover everything from communication skills to business improvement techniques. We’ll work with your employer to determine which modules will form part of your programme.
For each module, you’ll attend a classroom-based workshop designed to give you the skills and behaviours relevant to that topic. There may be additional online learning to support this classroom session, and you’ll then need to evidence how you can apply what you’ve learnt through the completion of an assessed piece of work for each unit. This piece of work may be written, but could also include practical activities, and it’s this assessed work, completed to a pass standard, that evidences your achievement for the qualification.
You’ll receive individual written feedback on each piece of assessed work you submit, which will help you to improve and develop further.
What will I do on the programme?
Each classroom-based workshop will be different, and will be delivered by one of our expert trainers, some workshops will be theatre-based learning, using actors to bring the skills and behaviours to life.
Every workshop is interactive and practical, exploring different tools, techniques and skills in an engaging and memorable way which you can take away and apply directly to your team leader role.
embedding the learning.
Each workshop on an ILM programme is delivered using our dramatically different, engaging and fun methodology. This is followed by a written assignment that will test the learning.
Where possible, ted Learning uses our theatre based learning approach to test practical skills. For example, if Recruitment was one of the workshops, rather than producing a 2000 word assignment, we blend a practical assignment of conducting an interview alongside an element of written task that tests understanding of the full recruitment process.
This blended approach appeals more as it's less reliant on written and more on how these skills are used back in the workplace.
Some faq's about ILM Training.
0.1 What is Theatre based learning?
Theatre Based Learning is the technique we use to bring learning to life by using our actors to perform scenarios, based on real case studies.
Theatre Based Learning can be either observational (where learners watch scenes and discuss) OR participative (where we use techniques like real-play and practice, forum where learners interact with the actors and direct them or hot-seating where learners give feedback to individual characters and make suggestions). We use this technique to blend how we assess learning so its not all written and doesn't feel so academic but still meets the ILM criteria and standard and still embeds the learning

video showcase.
Discussing and learning in the traditional ‘class-room’ is effective, but long-term memory is better stimulated by having an experience. Our approach using experiential and drama based methods delivers this and leads to more sustained learning.

theatre of learning delivering sustained blended learning.
Our training is observational and participative, using teams of actors to bring it to life. We recognise that taking part in role-play is not for everyone, so we offer observational training – this is where two of our acting team demonstrate scenes related to the course and delegates observe and comment on the behaviors. Where a business is more confident working with actors, we take this to the next level with participative training so delegates get to practice their newly learnt skills.
sustain and maintain learning.
All our learners have full access to our ted learning HUB – our bespoke platform that enables all learners to continue the engagement with the trainer and actors, see latest case-studies and blogs from the ted learning team and engage with other learners, discussing their own challenges and successes.
Desktop, mobile, or tablet - the ted HuB engages learners with training accessible anytime, anywhere, on any device.
